On October 28th, 2011 from 7:00-8:00pm will be the church website roundtable-workshop. Anyone working on a church or ministry website can bring their computer and website files to work on. At this workshop you can discuss what you are doing on your website with others, get feedback and learn some new ideas. Mike Pritchard will be available for technical help also. This workshop will be held at Sequim Bible Church. There is no charge for this workshop.

Pastor Rick Dietzman of Sequim Community Church and Mike Pritchard discussed two methods for reaching the lost via the internet. Below are the notes on the class.

Pastor Rick talked about the phenomenal success of Global Media Outreach. Through writing emails sent to you through GMO you can reach people for Jesus that even missionaries can't reach.

Life-issue Searches
Mike discussed the opportunity to reach thousands of people who are searching on the internet for life-issue problems.
Currently if someone is struggling with some life-issue such as suicide, drug use or spousal abuse and they search the internet for help, they will usually not find info that says Jesus can help them. Instead they will find secular advice (and some of it is not very good).
With the right text we (the christian community) could reach people that ordinarily we would never reach.
Go to google and type in “How to kill yourself”, you will see what I mean.
You can reach thousands of hurting people, who are searching for answers, by spending about an hour writing an article. Hurting people who are searching for answers.
We, as the church, are ignoring thousands of people who are actively seeking answers.

(note: there used to be 0 Christian sites on this topic, now there is one. I wrote 5 articles, 20-40 minutes per article, and now one of those webpages is presenting the good news of Jesus on the second page of google results.)
As a Christian you have the answers.
You have the message.
You know Jesus.
This is only a small example of the opportunity available to us to reach many people with life-issues. If we can get the Christian answer on the internet, on the first few pages of google, we can reach a lot of people.
You can reach thousands of hurting people who are searching for answers, by taking about an hour to write an article.
If you have never done evangelism before, this is a really easy way to do it. And you could reach more people than you have met in your lifetime.
You can contact www.allaboutgod.com (contact link at bottom of their website) and they will place your article for you.
The simplest way to reach thousands, if not millions of people is to contact the people at All About God. They will ask you a few questions, then send you a list of titles and you can write 600 words on that topic. Be sure you agree with their statement of faith.
The wonderful part about writing your articles for All About God is that they handle placing your article on their websites and getting the linking needed to get your article to show up on google.
They are quite effective. In fact, for most life-issues you search on, that one or two Christian responses you might find will probably be from them. But they need many, many more writers.
If you are interested in evangelism but unable to go on outreach trips you will be delighted at how effective you can be for Kingdom purpose through short emails and writing short (about a page and a half) stories.
